Tattoo Imagemovie | Y2K Aesthetics | Mini DV, Colour, Stereo | 00:27 | 2019
The MiniDV film was made on a flash day at a tattoo studio. The VHS aesthetic refers both to the production circumstances of the MiniDV camera and to the chronological and content-related break between two time levels—the implied 2000s and the current 2019. The overlapping images and the dreamy song Nights in White Satin are intended to counteract the advertising effect of an image film and to observe the situation of tattooing on both sides without evaluating it. “Letters I've written, never meaning to send” – the song lyrics as a hypothesis of self-realization of intrinsic meaning for the outside world.
